Mica Capacitors
Mica capacitors are precision capacitors that use natural mica as the dielectric material. They are valued for their excellent electrical stability, low losses, high insulation resistance and outstanding performance at radio frequencies. What Is a Mica Capacitor?
A mica capacitor uses thin sheets of natural mica placed between conductive metal electrodes. The dielectric has excellent insulating properties and maintains a very stable capacitance over a wide range of temperatures, frequencies and operating conditions.
Most modern mica capacitors are silver mica capacitors, where silver electrodes are deposited directly onto the mica sheets.

How Mica Capacitors Work
Like all capacitors, mica capacitors store energy in an electric field between two conductive plates. The natural mica dielectric provides excellent insulation, resulting in very low leakage current and extremely stable capacitance.
Because dielectric losses are very low, mica capacitors perform exceptionally well in high-frequency and precision applications.
