Understanding the UC3842 PWM Controller
The UC3842 is one of the world's most widely used current-mode PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) controller ICs for Switch-Mode Power Supplies (SMPS). How the UC3842 Works
The internal oscillator generates a fixed switching frequency determined by the external RT and CT components.
The PWM comparator continuously compares the current-sense signal with the error amplifier output.
If the output voltage falls, the controller increases the duty cycle to deliver more power. If the output voltage rises, the duty cycle is reduced.
This closed-loop control provides excellent voltage regulation over a wide range of input voltages and load currents.
